The world of IP continues to change

It used to be the case that it was hard to get good information about intellectual property rights, it was hard to know what to look for and what to do about it.  This natural barrier to entry created quite a considerable barrier to entry in favor of the encumbents advising on all things IP.

Well, that’s no longer the case.  The volume of information that is freely available is overwhelming, and growing every day.

At the same time there’s been an enormous spike in the number of people hawking IP Strategy (without really knowing what it is) using platitudes from a former time – a time when they had all of the information.

Well times have changed…

Are your ‘IP Strategists’ talking in the past (out of their hats) or can you clearly see that they doing the latest, most strategic work there is?

  1. This is a recurrent theme on this blog. This type of marketing really lowers my respect for you and would really make me question why I would engage a firm that thrashes its competition like this.

Stick to telling your market about your own message instead of trying to judge your competition.

    This is cheap and unprofessional.

    • Thanks for the feedback Admin – Curious as to why you felt it necessary to make this comment anonymously.  Would love to discuss this further if you would do me and our readers the simple courtesy of commenting under your real identity.

  2. Duncan

Curious also that you disparage 80% of IP strategy practitioners without mentioning any specific names or pointing to any specific behaviours from individuals or companies.

    Perhaps you should go first!

    • Thanks so much, Admin.  See that’s the thing – I have gone first – you and everyone else know who I am.   (I’m sure our readers have also noticed that you’re now asking me to do the very thing you were first criticizing this post about…)
The post with the 80% figure generated some lively and polite discussion amongst a number of people  –  posting as themselves…
Thanks again for the feedback and I wish you all the very best.
