The 8 intellectual property enthusiasts to watch

The 8 intellectual property enthusiasts who not only read but commented on the New Year’s Eve post were (in order of receipt).

Trevor Cook (47 minutes after the post published) – Trevor is of course a partner in the London office of Bird & Bird. He’s the author of a long list of periodicals and books the ones of which I have read I can highly recommend.

Trevor sent me a quick email to say that yes, he is working and had just filed evidence in a patent suit.

Nan (54 minutes)

Nan elected to post semi-anonymously, so although I have an email address, I won’t be putting anything else here. Nan – do let me know if you want me to change this and I will.

Michael Kochka (3 hours 38 minutes)

Mike evidently works at Maldjian & Fallon LLC. Regrettably, it appears that Maldjian & Fallon follow the age-old and thoroughly sub-optimal practice of not giving the limelight to associates on the website.

There is however subject matter to be illuminated, and it is at Mike’s LinkedIn profile.

Alissa (5 hours 38 minutes)

Like Nan, Alissa elected to post semi-anonymously, so although I have an email address, I won’t be putting anything else here. Alissa – do let me know if you want me to change this and I will.

Tom Brainard (7 hours 13 minutes)

Tom is principal at Brainard & Associates, an intellectual property strategy firm that he founded. He’s based in Chicago and has tons of pharmaceutical experience. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Tom and he’s a great guy as well.

Michael Vitale (15 hours 46 minutes)

I’ve known Mike for quite a long time now. Mike and I co-teach ‘Strategic Management of IP’ for a half semester each year at the Melbourne Business School.

Professor Vitale is Director at the Monash Asia Pacific Centre for Science and Wealth Creation, a consultant and really fun to co-teach with.

Jonathan Matkowsky(17 hours 47 minutes)

Jonathan is legal director, global brand protection at Yahoo and has an impressive cv of experience and education.

In his current role, Jonathan provides solution-based counseling, and implementing systems to measure, monitor, and maximize intellectual property (IP) globally, both in new and traditional contexts. Creator, protector, and deliverer of innovative value out of intangible business assets, including through the convergence of IP with new media/IT.

(Calvert Crary was a late addition at 36 hours 16 minutes. Mr Crary provides investment research on corporate legal matters to hedge funds and insitutional investors – check out his site – Litigation Notes.)
