Westminster from the London Eye, England

I seem to get to London so often that it feels like a second home. I have a lot of friends in the IP world there and always have a fun, if very busy time.

Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Chemical Inventions: world protection, exploitation and enforcement

BUCKNELL D (ED): OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS 2010

This ground breaking book highlights the special issues arising in obtaining, commercialising, enforcing or attacking intellectual property rights (including protection of regulatory data) in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and chemical industries across the world’s key jurisdictions. The first two chapters give a general introduction to the differences between the jurisdictions and an overview of some of the key concepts in patent law. The remainder of the looseleaf is dedicated to analysis of the major legal issues arising in these areas of technology on a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction basis. Each jurisdictional chapter has a comparative introduction, looking at the variances in the laws of different domains, followed by analysis of the relevant regime, including tables and flow-charts which summarise and explain the key legal concepts.

Contributors are partners in leading patent attorney and law firms from the United States, Europe (including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands), Japan, Canada, Australia, India and China.

Australian Patent Law

BUCKNELL, BEATTIE, GOATCHER & ROFE; LEXISNEXIS, AUSTRALIA 2004

Clear and accessible, Australian Patent Law is used by almost all Patent Attorney firms in Australia. It assists Attorneys to interpret the complexities of the Patents Act 1990 (Cth) and Regulations. Australian Patent Law is an indispensable, easy to use text that provides annotations to the Patent Act 1990, with relevant case law, regulations and Australian Patents Office practice. Of immense value is the comparative table and notes on differences between the 1952 and 1990 Acts, as well as the table of procedural steps. Australian Patent Law also includes a unique introductory chapter, explaining key patent concepts.
